Pilates Instructor, CoreAlign Instructor

Like my co-workers at Carpe Diem, my interest in fitness began at a young age. I was in the performing dance class in high school, and continued to dance and take aerobics classes throughout college and young adulthood. I eventually went through extensive fitness training including the AFAA certification, taught fitness classes for 13 years , and became a certified personal trainer as well.

In addition to fitness, I've always been interested in nutrition and worked as a nutrition counselor for a number of years.   I believe that what we put into our bodies is just as important as exercise- in terms of seeing the results that we want to see, feeling our best, and slowing the process of degeneration.

At one point I decided to go back to school and get my masters degree in counseling. However, with a turn of fate, I wasn't able to pursue that path. I soon realized that I was glad that I didn't go that route because working with people in the pilates and fitness field is my first and foremost love. Part of what I love about it is that the mind and body are so tightly connected. Working in this arena, I'm able to help people achieve their physical goals while addressing the mental component of exercise. I enjoy the process of meeting people where they are at, and helping them to gain healthier bodies and balance of mind. I think the key is to assist each person in finding the kind of motivation and enthusiasm that leads to consistency of exercise and a healthy life style.

Pilates has been a natural progression for me. It uniquely combines the mental and physical aspects ofmovement. It draws on what I've learned about the body and takes it to a much more detailed level of understanding. I'm very excited to be teaching classes and working one on one with clients here at Carpe Diem!
