Pilates Instructor - Eugene Studio

Mat Pilates 1 & 2 certifications, Balanced Body University

As a child I was extremely shy and reserved. Movement helped me to express myself and come out of my shell. Through ballet and gymnastics I gained a passion for expressing myself through movement and learning how to better control my body. I took my training a step further when I started practicing equestrian vaulting, which combines dance and gymnastics on a moving horse. As I've gotten older my passion with dance has grown as I've continued to study ballet, jazz, modern, hip hop and break dancing.

After growing up in California, I moved to Oregon to attend Gutenberg College to study art, history and philosophy. After graduating with a bachelors degree from Gutenberg College, I continued my movement by studying dance. I was introduced to Pilates by my dance mentor, Cheryl Lemmer. Studying under Cheryl for two years, I received my Pilates Certificate through Balanced Body University.

I have been teaching dance classes and mat Pilates classes at various locations in the Eugene area since 2006 and was finally introduced to Carpe Diem in 2011. Going through the training program at Carpe Diem has given me so many tools to effectively teach Pilates and to truly help change people’s bodies by integrating their mind with their movement. Going through the GETS CORe Pilates program with Carpe Diem has increased my understanding of the intricacies of the human body and how much can be improved for better movement patterns to keep the body healthy and mobile. I find teaching Pilates to be extremely satisfying and inspiring because I love to see people’s bodies improve, get stronger and feel better by investing in themselves and their Pilates practice.

Philosophy

Exercise and movement is not only physical, it's mental. Pilates is the perfect integration of the mind and the body. The connection and understanding between the two helps support a lifetime of healthy movement and injury prevention that provides long term rewards. Pilates is the foundation to keep the core and body strong, the spine mobile and the mind actively engaged.
